Matthew Bolin

 
Bolin is a Swedish ornamental name composed of the elements bo ‘farm’ + -lin, suffix of Swedish family names. Other spellings include Bolen, Boling.
 

The first Europeans settled in the Northwest Territory in 1788. Migrants came from New York and New England. Ohio was admitted to the Union as the 17th state on March 1, 1803.

Matthew Bolin was born about 1765.

He was an early pioneer in Ohio.

He married Hannah Clauson about 1799 in Hamilton County, Ohio.

Matthew and Hannah had at least one son named Peter Bolin who was born in 1801 in Ohio.

Matthew Bolin was on the 1809 tax list of Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.

In 1820 Matthew Bowlan was in Butler, Miami County, Ohio. The household consisted of one man over 45, a woman between 25 and 45, and a girl between 10 and 16. A Lewis Boldon and an Adam Bowland were also in Miami County.

In 1830 Peter Bolan lived in Butler, Mongtomery County, Ohio. Levi Staley was his neighbor.

Peter married Priscilla Staley who was born about 1803 in North Carolina.

Peter died October 6, 1867 in Shelby County, Ohio

He lived in Butler, Montgomery, Ohio in 1830 near Peter Bolin.

Matthew and Peter Bolin lived near the David Taylor family. At David Taylor's estate sale Matthew Bolin bought a box and clothing, one hog, one cradle, 1 teapot, and three barrels. Peter Bolin bought one hog,

Shelby County, Ohio is in western Ohio and was formed in 1819 from Miami County.
